Your vacuum came with several different attachments, but do you know where they are? Often these attachments get tossed to the back of the hall closet because they are not used very often. But they are actually quite useful. Here are some ways to use your attachments that you might not have considered before.
Extension wand
Use this to reach those far away places. By extending the length of the vacuum hose, you can reach behind appliances and up to ceiling fans and high corners to remove cobwebs. If you have dropped an item in a hard-to-reach spot, try putting a section of nylon hose secured with a rubber band over the opening and using the suction to retrieve it.
Crevice tool
This is the one angled at the top and narrow. This unique size is great for cleaning baseboards, between sofa cushions and dusty corners. You can also use this to clean out the inner workings of your dryer. Miele even has a flexible crevice tool that can reach under the couch and other difficult places.
Dusting brush
The bristles on the end of this help trap dust in all sorts of places including your blinds or the coils on your appliances. You can also use this on intake vents to reduce the dust in your home or on bookcases and lampshades where dust frequently settles.
Upholstery and Mattress Tools
The upholstery tool has a rectangular opening with stiff, short bristles on the end. The width helps cover more area on couch cushions, the upholstery in your car, or carpeted stairs. The mattress tool is also wide, but without bristles so that you get a stronger suction. This is used for cleaning mattresses or smooth fabric surfaces like the seats of your car.
